[BREAKING] COVID-19: FG to evacuate Nigerians abroad

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs has directed all its missions abroad to compile a list of willing Nigerian nationals who wished to come back home. Chairman, Nigerians in Diaspora Commission, Abike Dabiri-Erewa, disclosed that this was sequel to requests received from Nigerians stranded abroad amid the coronavirus pandemic. She, however, said that the MFA had instructed that “the financial implications will be borne by the prospective evacuees, who will be compulsorily quarantined when they returned”. According to a statement on Friday by the Head, Media and Public Relations Unit, NIDCOM, Abdur-Rahman Balogun, interested citizens should inform the embassy in their country of residence about their intention to return to Nigeria. Minister of Finance, Budget and National Planning, Zainab Ahmed, who chairs the presidential committee, said this in Abuja while answering questions from State House correspondents at the end of the meeting. Few days ago the Innoson Company, expressed willingness to produce ventilators if Federal Government places an order. Innoson an indigenous motor company has the capacity to mass produce ventilators from their Nnewi Plant, could be a handy option in supplying this piece of equipment needed for COVID-19 patients who are in critical condition. The American gaint automaker Tesla, led by Elon musk had earlier announced free ventilators for any Nation that is in need of it, of which the Federal Government through the budget Office and Special Assistant to President Muhammadu Buhari begged for it. Nigerians Speak Innoson actually offered to produce ventilators if the federal government placed an order but instead they're publicly begging Elon on Twitter for a giveaway.
