Natasha and Husband at the chamber's entranceThe ongoing controversy between Kogi Central lawmaker, Natasha Akpoti-Uduaghan, and Senate President, Godswill Akpabio, has been dismissed as mere theatrics designed for content creation. This perspective was shared by Senator Yemi Adaramodu, who represents Ekiti South and serves as the chairman of the Senate Committee on Media and Public Affairs, during an interview on Channels Television.
Akpoti-Uduaghan had earlier accused the Senate President of sexual harassment and intimidation, claiming that these actions had hindered her ability to effectively represent her constituents in the Senate. However, shortly after making these allegations, she attended a National Assembly sitting in the company of her husband, Emmanuel Uduaghan, with whom she shared a public kiss at the entrance of the plenary.
Reacting to the incident, Adaramodu described the kiss as a form of staged theatrics, likening it to an entertainment skit. While acknowledging that the act was not illegal, he criticized it as being socially and morally inappropriate.
"I saw my colleague enter with a kiss, and it reminded me of the stage dramas we performed in primary school. This is where we are now completely unthinkable and unspeakable," Adaramodu remarked.
"They came so close to the plenary for a kiss? For what reason? When we assess whether something is right or wrong, we consider legality, but not all legal actions are socially or morally acceptable," he added.
The incident has continued to spark discussions, with some seeing it as a personal expression of affection and others questioning its appropriateness within the Senate chambers.
