1. The Kwara State Government has approved a three-month tax holiday for workers across the state as part of efforts to cushion the impact of the current economic hardship facing Nigerians. The Commissioner for Tertiary Education, Hajia Sa’adatu Modibbo-Kawu, made the announcement during a courtesy visit by the Joint Committee of Colleges of Education to her office in Ilorin, the state capital.

2. The Performing Musicians Association of Nigeria has voiced strong objections to the National Broadcasting Commission’s ban on rapper Eedris Abdulkareem’s trending song, “Tell Your Papa.” The NBC barred Nigerian radio and television stations from airing the trending song, “Tell Your Papa,” by popular rapper Eedris Abdulkareem, citing its “objectionable nature.” In a memo dated April 9, 2025, and issued by the Coordinating Director of Broadcast Monitoring, Susan Obi, the commission declared the track “Not To Be Broadcast” under Section 3.1.8 of the Nigeria Broadcasting Code. 

6. The Senate President, Godswill Akpabio had written to the Inspector General of Police, Kayode Egbetokun, alleging that the senator falsely accused him of plotting her assassination, a claim he described as “heinous lies” aimed at damaging his reputation and inciting unrest. The petition, dated April 3 and also copied to the Attorney General of the Federation, Lateef Fagbemi (SAN), was triggered by Akpoti-Uduaghan’s comments made on April 1 in Kogi State. The female senator alleged that Akpabio had instructed former Kogi State Governor, Yahaya Bello, to eliminate her within the state, making it appear as though her constituents were responsible for the attack.

7. The Supreme Court on Friday dismissed Mr Juli Myus Abure as Labour Party’s National Chairman. The apex court set aside the January 17th judgment of the Court of Appeal in Abuja acknowledging him as such.

8. A Federal High Court in Abuja has barred parties in the suit filed by suspended Senator Natasha Akpoti-Uduaghan against Senate President Godswill Akpabio and three others from granting press interviews on issues relating to the case. Justice Binta Nyako issued the order yesterday following complaint by lawyer to Akpabio, Kehinde Ogunwumiju (SAN).

9. The spokesman of the ruling All Progressives Congress, Comrade Tunde Oladunjoye, is dead. He was said to have passed away on Friday after a brief illness. Though there is no official or family confirmation, a post on Oladunjoye’s verified Facebook page confirmed the incident.

10. The Anambra State Government on Friday arraigned three native doctors before a State High Court for alleged involvement in criminal activities. The suspects were Chidozie Nwangwu, popularly known as “Akwa Okuko Tiwara Aki”, Onyebuchi Okocha known as “Onye Eze” and Ekene Igboezekwe, popularly known as “Eke Hit”.

11. An 18-seater bus belonging to the Benue state government-owned Benue Links Transport Company, was Thursday evening attacked at Ikobi community in Otukpo Local Government Area, LGA, of the state by suspected armed men who abducted 13 of the passengers after shooting the driver and a passenger who lost their lives in the incident.

12. The All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA) has cleared Governor Chukwuma Soludo as he picked his nomination form for the upcoming primary election in Anambra State. Governor Soludo, who various groups and individuals have endorsed for a second term in office, picked his expression of interest and nomination forms at the APGA National Secretariat in Abuja.

13. Hoodlums suspected to be oil thieves have vandalized the Ogboinbiri/Obiobi 24-inch Gas Pipeline between Angiama and Angiamagbene in Southern Ijaw Local Government Area of Bayelsa state. The Ogboinbiri/OB-OB gas pipeline, which is a 24-inch gas pipeline is formerly operated by Nigerian Agip Oil Company but Oando plc had since acquired it.

14. The Mining Marshals have shut down an illegal mining site in the Rafin-Gabas community of Kokona Local Government Area, Nasarawa State. The Minister of Solid Minerals Development, Dele Alake, confirmed this in a statement by his Special Assistant on Media, Segun Tomori, on Thursday in Abuja.

15. Ahead of the All Progressives Congress Anambra governorship primary election scheduled for Saturday, an aspirant, Chukwuma Umeoji has stepped down from the race. The Independent National Electoral Commission had earlier scheduled the party primaries to take place between March 20, 2025, and April 10, 2025.

16. Monday Okpebholo the Edo State Governor, on Friday 4th April in Irrua, Esan Central Local Government Area, said the People’s Democratic Party and its candidate, Asue Ighodalo’s appeal will crash at the Appellate Court. Okpebholo said this while speaking at Okaijesan Town Hall, the venue where the celebration of his election Tribunal victory was hosted by Edo Central leaders.

Almost 100 years ago, a 1926 syphilis survey conducted in the US state of Alabama showed that 36% of the people in Macon County had syphilis.
